This is 11″ Special 3 Fuller Chainpure Khukuri. It is one of the very exclusive khukuri(also called “kukri” or “khukri” in the west) of the Ex Gurkha Khukuri House(EGKH). “Chainpur” is a small village located in the eastern part of Nepal where this type of khukuris are mostly made. The name “Chainpure” on the khukuri is given after its village name where it originated centuries ago. Chainpure people specialized in many ornamental, souvenir & decorative displays amongst which the special Chainpure khukuri is one of their prized and prestigious assets.

We have an 11-inch (27.5cm) blade made of highly graded 5160 carbon steel. This blade has fullers on it with a polished shiny finish. The handle of this khukuri is made of rosewood with a full tang design where the blade can be seen throughout the handle. We have uniquely designed the scabbard for this khukuri using rosewood for the scabbard and water buffalo leather for the frog. All Khukuris have two pockets on the back of the scabbard which hold a blunt steel called “chakmak” for sharpening the blade or for striking spark with a flint and a little knife known as “karda” used for skinning small animals. The notch (kaura or kaudi) in the blade near the hilt of most khukuris serves as a conduit for the blood on the blade to drip out, thus preventing it from soiling the hilt, as well as a place for catching and neutralizing an incoming enemy blade.
